The dollar amount this contribution represents is over $2 million. Over 200 non-profit or governmental organizations, schools and hospitals utilized RSVP volunteers in 2006.

RSVP is open to all people age 55 and over.

Volunteers do not receive a stipend, but may be reimbursed for some costs incurred during service, including meals and transportation. Accident and liability coverage are also provided during service.

There are other benefits of volunteering. Ninety-eight percent of volunteers report that their service has improved their knowledge, health or social connectedness. Volunteers are acknowledged at an annual recognition event. Volunteering truly is the gift that gives back

The great thing about volunteering right here in southwestern Idaho is that there are hundreds of opportunities to help. And when you do, your life is enriched by a sense of satisfaction that comes from contributing to the well-being of others.

You’ll also meet new people and enjoy new camaraderie. In short, when you make a gift of your time and energy, it’s a gift that gives back to you — many fold.
